Ranging in age from 16 to over 90, volunteers work in many jobs and in many departments of the hospital. Volunteers staff the Main Lobby Information Desk, the Outpatient Surgery Reception Desk, the Corner Shop, as well as deliver mail and flowers to patients, do clerical work, and many other jobs. Teen Volunteers work after school at the direction of the nursing staff assisting patients with their needs, pushing wheelchairs, and performing clerical duties. New volunteers are welcome at any time. Volunteer orientation sessions are required before starting work and are held several times during the year.

Auxiliary
For fifty years the members of the Union Hospital Auxiliary have worked to broaden community support for the hospital. The Auxiliary elects its own officers and members choose the projects they will undertake during the year. As a fundraising arm of the hospital, Auxiliary projects have generated some $1.4 million dollars since 1949. Some of their projects are Warther's Christmas Tree Festival, The Corner Shop, Poinsettia Sale, Candy Sale, and many others. The Auxiliary holds monthly meetings and new members are always welcomed.
