Visitors are Welcome!

Visits from family and friends are an important part of the patient care program at Union Hospital. Visiting guidelines help all our patients enjoy the benefits of visitors while protecting every patient's right to comfort and privacy.

Visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Parents of children in the hospital may visit 24-hours. The hospital has the right to limit visitation by adults and children to protect the comfort and privacy of our patients.

Fathers may visit any time and remain in the room overnight.  Talk to Maternity nursing staff to make those arrangements. All other visitors are welcome from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

10:30 a.m. to 7 :00 p.m.
8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Visitors are welcome from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and then again from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. There is no visiting between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. to allow the staff to give shift report and to keep patient information as confidential as possible.

We encourage close family and friends to visit for short times. For most patients this means 5-10 minutes at a time, then leaving the patient to rest and for the nurse to provide needed care.

Visiting Guidelines
  • The Main Entrance doors are locked each night at 8:00 p.m. Visitors may exit through those doors at any time. Hospital entry after 8:00 p.m. is limited to the Emergency Department entrance.
  • To locate a patient in the hospital, ask a Volunteer at the Information Desk in the Main Lobby. After hours, push "0" (ZERO) on the house phone to reach the Switchboard.
  • Please limit visitors to two per patient in a semi-private room or three people in a private room.
  • Children may visit patients but must be with an adult. Do not leave children alone in any area of the hospital. Adults are responsible for the behavior of children in their charge.
  • Please check with the nurse before giving any food, drinks or medication to the patient.
  • You may be asked to leave the patient’s room while care is being given.
  • Hospital policy prohibits smoking inside the hospital or anywhere on the hospital campus.
