High School Students Invited to UH Career Camp
The UH TECH Career Camp at Union Hospital in Dover offers area high school students an up-close and personal exposure to a variety of jobs and career opportunities in the huge field of healthcare.
?Career Camp, coming up on November 17, is a full day of getting to know and experience a variety of great healthcare careers,? according to Carey Gardner, director of community relations. ?Our UH TECH program has evolved from monthly meetings to this full day event, bringing students a real hands-on opportunity to meet healthcare professionals and see what they do.?

how to help an accident victim begin breathing again.
Gardner says UH TECH stands for Union Hospital Teens Exploring Careers in Healthcare. Students of high school age are eligible to attend the next UH TECH Career Camp on Saturday, November 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Union Hospital.
Breakfast and lunch are included in this free program. Registration is limited to 75 students and can be made at www.unionhospital.org under ?Health Events? or by calling the Community Relations Department at (330) 602-0778.
The UH TECH Career Camp is organized and conducted by an advisory committee of hospital staff, chaired by Kimberly Nathan, RN of Dover, who is director of Union Hospital WorkWell Occupational Medicine and Workplace Wellness.
?Our committee of healthcare professionals come from many diagnostic and treatment areas of the hospital?s operations,? Nathan says. ?At Career Came we give students a taste of real-world work in healthcare, show them career options they might not have considered, and let them hear from people who do the work for a living
Senior students attending the UH TECH Career Camp will be invited to apply for the annual UH TECH Scholarship of $1,000. The scholarship is awarded annually to a UH TECH student who attended a Career Camp event and intends to pursue higher education for a healthcare career. |
