Vascular Lab Recognized for Screening Quality
The Union Hospital Vascular Laboratory has earned accreditation for its full range of Vascular Screening services.
Carey Gardner, director of development and community relations, said the accreditation was awarded by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories. Accredited for the first time was the hospital?s vascular screening service. Gardner said Union Hospital is one of only sixteen in the United States to earn this recognition for the quality and accuracy of its screening program and is the most recent achievement of the hospital?s vascular program.

The latest ultrasound technology to arrive at Union Hospital
is inspected by Dr. M. Todd Miller, a vascular surgeon.
Courtney Karrenbauer and Randall Troyer are vascular sonographers
in the Vascular Lab.
?Our Vascular Lab continues to grow because of an exceptionally skilled staff of diagnostic technicians and specialist physicians, working with some of the most advanced technology available,? Gardner said. ?It?s one of the leading vascular programs in Ohio, earning national attention from both the medical community and the top manufacturers of medical equipment.?
Gardner credits Chris Beck of Strasburg, the lab?s manager, for spearheading the growth of the program, especially the vascular screening services.
?Over the past two years hundreds of people have been screened for their risk of stroke, aneurysm, and vascular disease,? Beck said. ?We make this service available at a very low cost of only $99 for the three vascular exams and conduct the screening tests using our state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment and skilled vascular staff.?
Beck says Zonare and MedStreaming, two of the nation?s leading imaging equipment manufacturers and software developers have designated the UH Vascular Lab as a beta test site for their newest FDA approved equipment. Zonare also has honored Union Hospital as a Clinical Site of Excellence.
Gardner says the benefit of this accreditation and national recognition is the high quality of care provided to the more than 35,000 patients using the UH Vascular Lab since it began ten years ago.
