With its $100,000 gift to Union Hospital today, the members of the Union Hospital Auxiliary have surpassed a total of $2 million in gifts since the Auxiliary was formed in 1949. The latest gift was presented to the hospital today at the Auxiliary?s Annual Meeting at the Lighthouse Bistro at Atwood Lake.

Harding, president and CEO, is on the right.
Harding thanked the Auxiliary members for their hard work conducting the fundraising projects throughout the year that produced the combined $100,000 gift. He noted that it took 44 years for the Auxiliary to reach $1 million dollars in total donations to the hospital, but only twelve years to surpass the $2 million mark.
Karen Monticelli of Dover, Auxiliary president, told the members that their contribution to the hospital would be used to purchase nine pieces of patient care equipment for the hospital in addition to helping remodel the Corner Shop Gift Shop. The equipment items to be funded by the Auxiliary include a blanket warmer for ICU, bili-meter light meter for the Nursery, diagnostic hysteroscope for Surgery, two patient trauma carts for the ER, a biological hood for the Lab, telehealth monitoring equipment for Home Health, a postage machine for Office Services, and a driving simulator for Occupational Therapy.
Monticelli thanked all the project chairs who made their fundraising efforts successful. She introduced Marlena Allen of New Philadelphia as chairman of the inaugural ?Tea in the Garden? event on April 2. The luncheon and style show will be held at JIM?s Place in New Philadelphia from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and are available in advance only at Dover Buehler?s Supermarket, Elegance Floral in New Philadelphia, the Corner Shop at Union Hospital, or by calling the Union Hospital office of Community Relations at (330) 602-0778.
