According to Bruce James, Union Hospital president and CEO, the hospital made significant progress over the past year despite the economic downturn that continues to affect the region, the State of Ohio, and the nation. A summary of that progress is available to the public in the recently published 2009 Annual Report to the Community.

2009 Report to the Community

?The advancements we made in 2009 are reflected by the growth in our medical staff, new state-of-the-art imaging technology in our Radiology Department, and the opening of our new Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, just to name a few,? James said. ?The highlight of the year was being named one of the ?100 Top Hospitals? in the United States by Thomson Reuters.?
The hospital president said the hospital?s 2009 annual report also covers community benefit activities totaling more than $8.8 million dollars in subsidies for low income patients and wellness services to nearly 10,000 individuals.
In order to make the 2009 Annual Report to the Community more widely available, and save some money, James said the publication was streamlined and the contents made available from the UH website: www.unionhospital.org. It is found from the home page either as the feature news story or under the ?News and Events? navigation button.
James said the Report is also available in printed form. Copies are available at the Union Hospital Information Desk or by calling the Community Relations office at (330) 364-0806.
