Christmas Tree Festival Announces People's Choice Winners

The winners are in from the Union Hospital Auxiliary’s 22nd Annual Warther’s Christmas Tree Festival held Nov. 14-22 at Warther’s Museum in Dover.

The People’s Choice Award winners are voted on by the thousands of people who attend the festival, which is a fund-raiser for the UH Auxiliary.

“Let It Snow” was the selection of the People’s Choice Award for the favorite large tree. The tree was sponsored by Perfect Petals by Michele, and created by Michele Briggs.

The People’s Choice Award for the favorite small tree was won by “It’s a Small World,” which was sponsored by Stark Truss Co. and created by Wendy Spillman and Janice Dickey.

In addition, the winner of the tree raffle was Matt Tinlin of Dover and the quilt winner was Deb Catalano of Wickliffe.

Connie Finton of New Philadelphia, chairwoman of the Auxiliary’s Christmas Tree Festival, said she wants to thank the community for its outstanding support of the festival for another year.

“We are so grateful for all of the participating tree sponsors, for those who take the time to create and decorate trees, everyone who attends the festival and festival events, and the entire Tuscarawas Valley for how it has embraced the festival,” Finton said. “The volunteers who spend so much time throughout the year getting ready for this event are so dedicated and so talented, and I am grateful to them for all they do.

“We also could not have such a successful festival each year without our host site of Warther’s Museum, which provides outstanding support and cooperation.”

While the final fund-raising totals are being computed, Finton said she believes proceeds from the festival – the largest each year sponsored by the Auxiliary – should exceed last year’s total. More than 90 trees were featured in the show, along with wreaths and other Christmas decoration items.

Proceeds from the Christmas Tree Festival, along with all of the other Auxiliary projects during the year, are donated to the hospital. These donations are used to purchase patient care equipment and for improvements such as the new Union Hospital Lauren Emergency Center.
