Union Hospital in Dover has expanded the availability of patient medical records and access to hospital services through the Union Hospital Patient Portal on the Internet. The newest functions to be offered include hospital appointment scheduling and on-line payment of hospital bills. The Portal also gives patients access to a wide variety of hospital test results such as radiology and laboratory testing, as well as hospital and ER physician reports.
If a patient has a doctor’s order for an outpatient test that requires an appointment, the patient may use their Union Hospital Patient Portal account to submit a request a date and time for that test. Hospital staff will reply to the patient to confirm the appointment. Outpatient Lab and routine chest and extremity x-rays do not require an appointment and are done on a walk-in basis. After the testing is completed and the results are posted, the patient may see the results by returning to their Portal account.
The other new Portal feature is the ability to pay hospital bills through the Patient Portal. Patients have the ability to see their itemized hospital bills, the amount due, and submit payment.
Patient information, test results, and convenience functions will expand as the Union Hospital Patient Portal evolves. In the near future, test results to become available on the Portal will include Respiratory, Cardiology, Vascular, Neurology, and Sleep Lab reports.
A Union Hospital Patient Portal account may be established by visiting the Union Hospital Health Information Management office (Medical Records) on the ground floor. The office is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. An account may also be opened by calling Kristie at (330) 343-3311, ext. 2425 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 pm. If the patient’s e-mail address is already on file with Union Hospital and the patient knows their unique Medical Record Number, a Portal account may be opened by visiting the UH Internet website: www.unionhospital.org
Patients also have the ability to give “proxy” access to their medical information to those they choose to grant it to, such as their spouse, caregivers or other family members. Proxy enrollment must be completed in person by visiting the UH Health Information Management office.
