The annual New Philadelphia Rotary “Spring Healthcheck” is scheduled March 17 (Saturday) at Union Hospital. This comprehensive blood screening event to check a wide range of health indicators is open to the community with appointments available between 6 and 11 a.m. and at a cost of only $45 (a PSA test for men 50 and older is only $15 more).
Appointments for the Healthcheck are available now and can be made online and by telephone. Online appointments can be made on the Union Hospital website at www.unionhospital.org, click on the “Health Events” button and select the Rotary Healthcheck event on the calendar for March 17. Complete the online registration form by selecting an appointment time and providing the information requested.
Appointments also can be made by telephone weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by calling the Union Hospital Department of Community Relations at (330) 308-3599.
Screening tests conducted at the Healthcheck include the following:
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Hemogram Profile/Complete Blood count
Indicates anemia, infection, immunity or bleeding disorders
TSH – Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
This level controls metabolism and organ function
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) screening is available to men ages 50 and older for an additional $15. This is a test for PSA levels which can indicate a prostate condition, including cancer.
The Union Hospital phlebotomy staff will draw the blood samples and all testing is done in the hospital’s Laboratory. A printed report will be mailed to the home of each Healthcheck participant providing all test results.
Proceeds from the Healthcheck are used by the New Philadelphia Rotary Club for its many community service activities.
