The NFL season is back this weekend – and the Browns host the Steelers to get things going this Sunday (Sept. 10).
But you don’t have to wait until then to break out your Browns or Steelers jersey – just pull out your fan gear for either team if you have it and wear it to Union Hospital’s free “Walk With A Doc” event scheduled Wednesday (Sept. 6) at 4:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market. The Browns and Steelers T-shirts and jerseys should be easy to spot during the walk!
“Walk With A Doc,” sponsored by the hospital’s Community Health and Wellness program, also will feature Gina Vitale-Amos, a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) who sees patients of all ages at the family practice of UPS Central located on the campus of Union Hospital. Vitale-Amos will talk with walkers and lead a walk around the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Cloverleaf Café.
And the hospital’s Nutrition Services Department will be serving free samples of a “Blue Melon Smoothie” at the conclusion of the walk.
Walkers will meet at the fairgrounds, receive free blood-pressure checks, hear a health-related talk from Vitale-Amos and then take in the sights, sounds and smells of the Farmers Market during the walk around the fairgrounds.
The entire event is free, no pre-registration is necessary and the Union Hospital Nutrition Services staff also will provide the healthy snack and water for walkers. For more details, call (330) 308-3599 or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Walk With A Doc events will be held the first Wednesday of each month at the Farmers Market through the month of October. In July, more than 40 walkers participated in the event.
Walk With a Doc is a national non-profit organization with a mission to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Future walk dates will be announced by the hospital and on the Walk With a Doc website at http://walkwithadoc.org/our-locations/dover-ohio/.
Other healthcare professionals, public officials and others will be part of upcoming walks.
