3 Nurse Navigators Will Lead 'Walk With A Doc' Aug. 2 at Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market

Bethany Albaugh, RN

If one walk leader is good for Union Hospital’s popular free community walking program – “Walk With A Doc” – then three will make for an even better and more fun experience on Aug. 2 (Wednesday) at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market.

And throw in a free “Raspberry Yogurt Mousse Shooter” for a refreshing – and healthy – snack for a great event.

“Walk With A Doc,” sponsored by the hospital’s Community Health and Wellness program, will feature the three “Nurse Navigators” who provide services to patients at the hospital’s Union Physician Services (UPS) primary care (family care) offices. Registered nurses Bethany Albaugh, Ashley Grimm and Dusty Harder will talk with walkers and lead a walk around the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Cloverleaf Café.

Walkers will meet at the fairgrounds, receive free blood-pressure checks, hear a health-related talk from the nurse navigators and then take in the sights, sounds and smells of the Farmers Market during the walk around the fairgrounds.

The entire event is free, no pre-registration is necessary and the Union Hospital Nutrition Services staff also will provide the healthy snack and water for walkers. For more details, call (330) 308-3599 or send an e-mail to information@unionhospital.org.

Albaugh, Grimm and Harder work with the medical staffs to provide a wide range of services for patients at the offices of UPS Family Health Center North at Dover, UPS Central located on the campus of Union Hospital, Newcomerstown UPS and Alpine Family Medicine at Sugarcreek. All three previously worked for Union Hospital Home Health Care previously.

The Walk With A Doc events will be held the first Wednesday of each month at the Farmers Market through the month of October. In July, more than 40 walkers participated in the event.

Walk With a Doc is a national non-profit organization with a mission to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Future walk dates will be announced by the hospital and on the Walk With a Doc website at http://walkwithadoc.org/our-locations/dover-ohio/.

Other healthcare professionals, public officials and others will be part of upcoming walks.
