Union Hospital’s popular – and free – community walking program will enable participants to keep their 4th of July celebrations going strong an extra day next Wednesday along with longtime area family physician Dr. Kristi Leindecker.
“Walk With A Doc,” sponsored by the hospital’s Community Health and Wellness program, is scheduled Wednesday (July 5) beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds at Dover as part of the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market. The event will include a “patriotic theme” and walkers are encouraged to wear their red, white and blue garb as part of the refreshing walk around the fairgrounds.
Walkers will meet in Cloverleaf Café at the fairgrounds, receive free blood-pressure checks, hear a health-related talk from Dr. Leindecker and then take in the sights, sounds and smells of the Farmers Market during the walk around the fairgrounds.
The entire event is free, no pre-registration is necessary and the Union Hospital Nutrition Services staff also will provide a free healthy snack – a cucumber mint salad – and water for walkers. For more details, call (330) 308-3599 or send an e-mail to email@example.com.
Dr. Leindecker is a family physician in the practice of UPS Family Health Center North in Dover, the Union Hospital-owned location that opened earlier this year. Dr. Leindecker is certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, earned her medical degree at Wright State University School of Medicine and served her fellowship at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program in Indiana.
The Walk With A Doc events will be held the first Wednesday of each month at the Farmers Market through the month of October.
