Spring is just around the corner and one way to welcome it is to get out and get moving through the free “Walk With A Doc” monthly walking program sponsored by the Union Hospital Community Health and Wellness staff.
Walkers will be able to hear from and walk with Dr. John Burnham, a long-time area family physician at the newly opened hospital-operated practice of UPS Family Health Center North at Dover, during the March Walk With A Doc scheduled Saturday, March 4, at 9 a.m. at the hospital.
Walkers will meet in the hospital cafeteria, hear a health-related presentation from Dr. Burnham, receive blood-pressure checks, walk with Dr. Burnham and enjoy a free healthy snack and water presented by the Union Hospital Nutrition Services Department. In case of inclement weather, the walk itself will be completed on the hospital’s indoor walking path.
The entire event is free and no registration is necessary.
Dr. Burnham, who was associated with the former Cross Street Family Practice at Dover before it became part of UPS Family Health Center North earlier this year, has provided care for families in the Tuscarawas Valley for many years. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, served his residency at Aultman Hospital and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Walk With a Doc is a national non-profit organization with a mission to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Future walk dates will be announced by the hospital and on the Walk With a Doc website at http://walkwithadoc.org/our-locations/dover-ohio/.
Other healthcare professionals, public officials and others will be part of upcoming walks.
