It’s time to get those New Year’s resolutions about exercising more and feeling better in motion.
And one way to get up and get moving is to head on over to Union Hospital for the first monthly “Walk With A Doc” of 2017, scheduled this Saturday (Jan. 7) at 9 a.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
Walkers of all ages are welcome and this month’s featured topic will be a presentation from Mary Marshall, RN, a Union Hospital Community Health and Wellness nurse. Marshall, who has been part of the Walk With A Doc program at Union Hospital since it was launched in 2016, has studied health, wellness, nutrition and more.
She also will lead the walk on the hospital’s outdoor walking trail (or in case of inclement weather, the walk will be held indoors on the hospital’s indoor walking path.)
The entire event is free and no registration is necessary.
The event is for walkers of any age and there is absolutely no cost to attend. Healthy snacks and water will be available, and free blood-pressure checks also will be featured through the expertise of the Union Hospital Community Health and Wellness staff.
Marshall also will provide a brief health-related discussion and will be available to answer questions and encourage participants.
Walk With a Doc is a national non-profit organization with a mission to encourage healthy physical activity in people of all ages, and reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of the country. Future walk dates will be announced by the hospital and on the Walk With a Doc website at http://walkwithadoc.org/our-locations/dover-ohio/.
Other healthcare professionals, public officials and others will be part of upcoming walks.
