Dr. Orafu Will Host Girls' Night Out

“It’s All About You Girlfriend!” is the title a program for women that will wrap up the annual Paint Tusc Pink project. Union Hospital and a number of community partners annually sponsor Paint Tusc Pink during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“We’ve put together a program that will be informative and fun for women of all ages,” said Dr. Chinyere Orafu. “We will learn about the genetics of cancer, how to lose weight with a healthy diet, and so much more.”

Dr. Orafu is a board certified OB/GYN physician on the Union Hospital Medical Staff and the medical director of Ohio Laser & Wellness Centers in Dover and Canton.

The program will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Founders Hall at Kent State University Tuscarawas. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for guests to sign in, enjoy refreshments, and spend time with exhibitors. The program begins at 6 p.m. Gift bags will be presented to those attending and there will be door prizes valued over $2,000.

The program is free and seating is limited to the first 200 people who make a reservation. To register, go to the Union Hospital web site; unionhospital.org and select Oct. 25 from the Health Events Calendar. Reservations by phone can be made by calling the Union Hospital Community Relations office at (330) 308-3599 during regular business hours.

In addition to Dr. Orafu, program presenters include:

  • Deepthi Singam, MBBS, MD, a board certified family medicine physician in Dover will discuss health awareness and screening to protect your health.
  • Tina Brechbill, MSN, CNS, AOCN, CBEC, an oncology clinical nurse specialist will discuss “The Genetics of Cancer” and this newly developing approach to early detection and prevention of cancer.
  • Ashley Addessi and Holly Hartzler, both registered and licensed dietitians, will reveal the dangers of fad diets and provide a healthy approach to weight loss.
  • Becky Huff, a certified navigator in breast imaging at Union Hospital, will discuss how Tomosynthesis (3-D mammography) is an important development in early detection of cancer.

Following the presentations, Dr. Orafu will moderate an interactive conversation among the presenters and the audience.

“This will be the opportunity for everybody to ask questions, not only about what they’ve heard discussed at this program, but also any question about health and wellness,” Dr. Orafu said. “There’s no question that’s out of bounds. We want to know what’s on your mind because information is what this program is all about.”

Dr. Orafu’s program wraps up Paint Tusc Pink and the Breast Cancer Awareness Month observation with support provided by Kent State University Tuscarawas. Paint Tusc Pink is co-sponsored by Union Hospital’s Community Health and Wellness Program, the Regional Cancer Center at Union Hospital, Trinity Hospital Twin City Community Outreach Department, the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, and WJER Radio.
