Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted received a personal view of the high level of patient care and healthcare services available in the Tuscarawas Valley during a visit Thursday afternoon (Aug. 25) to Union Hospital.
Husted met with members of the administration and medical staffs at the hospital and took a tour of the new UH Lauren Emergency Center, which opened in March and marked the completion of construction just a few weeks ago.
“We appreciate that Secretary Husted was able to provide the time to not only learn more about Union Hospital, but to travel to Tuscarawas County and see our hospital,” said Bruce James, president and chief executive officer of Union Hospital. “It is important and very beneficial to be able to discuss with elected officials on every level the success stories of our patients and dedicated staff members, as well as the challenges we face here in being able to continue those success stories.”
James led Husted on a tour of the Lauren Emergency Center, and Husted stopped to speak with members of the medical team that will see an estimated 45,000 patients this year.
Husted said he was impressed with the hospital and the Lauren Emergency Center, adding that the visit was important in helping him understand hospital operations, as well as the highlights and concerns of hospital officials and staff members responsible for patient treatment.
