The physicians at Ohio Head and Neck Surgeons in Dover, in cooperation with Union Hospital, will offer free skin cancer screenings now through the end of the year.
“The American Cancer Society says skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in America,” according to Carey Gardner, director of community relations at Union Hospital. “It is also one of the most treatable cancers, but like many other forms of cancer, early detection and treatment is key to a cure.”
Gardner says the free screening will be offered to those who are suspicious about a lesion or spot on their face, scalp, or neck that has changed color, shape, or is bleeding. If a skin cancer is diagnosed, early detection can result in a smaller incision and scar.
Screenings will be performed by the ear, nose and throat physician specialists at Ohio Head and Neck Surgeons including Steven Ossakow, MD, Kent Ramsey, MD, Charles Bogdan, MD, Darrell Smith, MD, and Aaron Brescia, MD.
The office of Ohio Head and Neck Surgeons is located at 400 Medical Park, Suite 103 on the campus of Union Hospital. To make an appointment call the Ohio Head and Neck Surgeons main office at 1-330-994-0836.
Gardner says after the initial free screening exam, further testing may be necessary and scheduled for a later date to make a diagnosis and implement any needed treatment.
