The Union Hospital Auxiliary invites the community to come celebrate a long-awaited spring thaw at its annual “Tea in the Garden” scheduled Saturday, April 16, at noon in the Tuscarawas County Senior Center at Dover.
Guests will be treated to a British-inspired tea, complete with delicious courses and desserts prepared by the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Tea is served in china from Auxiliary members’ personal collections. The afternoon also will feature a program presented by Union Hospital medical staff member Chinyere Orafu, MD, entitled “Keeping it Real with Dr. Orafu.”
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling Holly Ripple at Union Hospital at (330) 364-0884. Tickets are sold in advance only. Groups of up to eight people wishing to sit together are encouraged to call early. The reservation deadline is April 4. No tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds benefit the Union Hospital Auxiliary and used to help purchase patient care equipment.
“We are very excited about this year’s Tea in the Garden,” said event co-chair Ashley Heldt of Dover. “We are moving toward a more traditional ladies’ tea this year, and we are pleased to be able to host the event at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Many people have already begun asking about tickets.”
A “Chinese Auction” and a raffle will round out the day and each guest will receive a complimentary teacup and saucer to take home.
Susan Mosher of Dover, project co-chair, said the Tea in the Garden will be a welcome break from a long, cold winter.
“This is a time to celebrate the coming of spring and to relax with friends and feel a little pampered,” Mosher said.
