The community will be able to get its first look at the new Union Hospital Lauren Emergency Center during an Open House event scheduled Sunday, March 6, from 1 to 3 p.m.
There will be plenty to see, too, since the new Lauren Emergency Center includes an expanded floor plan that more than doubles the size of the current Emergency Department. A total of 38 patient treatment rooms are available in the new facility, which is designed for improved operating efficiency and a better patient experience. The new Emergency Center also features major treatment and trauma rooms, isolation rooms, a baratric room and OB/GYN rooms.
“We have been updating the community on a regular basis about the progress of construction of the new Lauren Emergency Center since ground was broken in the summer of 2014,” said Carey Gardner, UH Director of Community Relations. “We’re very pleased to have reached the point where we can host the community for the open house before patient care begins inside the new Lauren Emergency Center.”
Those attending the event should enter the new Emergency Center through the facility’s lower-level doors, which are located behind the main hospital building. Parking is available in the lots behind the hospital. Signs to assist visitors with parking and entering the building will be posted in the area and hospital staff members also will be available.
Emergency Medical Services personnel from the cities of Dover and New Philadelphia, and Smith Ambulance Service also will be in attendance with their vehicles and equipment. In addition, the MedFlight medical transport service is scheduled to provide one of its emergency medical helicopters and personnel, utilizing the Emergency Center’s new helipad.
