For your peace of mind Union Hospital Home Care provides a telephone number if you need to talk with a nurse after hours or on weekends. Home visits may be arranged for evenings and weekends.
All services are provided and conducted under the direct care of each patients personal physician.
Skilled Nursing Working with your doctor, an experienced registered nurse will assess your situation and provide services such as, but not limited to:
- Drawing blood
- Administering injections
- Inserting catheters
- Changing complicated dressings
- I.V. care
- Diabetic care
- Administration of medications
- Infant care
- Ostomy and tracheostomy care
Physical Therapy Through the use of therapeutic exercises, transfer training and home programs our licensed physical therapy staff assists patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgery, fracture, amputation, burns, and other illnesses.
Speech Therapy Certified speech pathologists assist patients who are experiencing communication problems.
I.V. Therapy Many patients are able to receive intravenous therapy at home for nutrition, hydration, pain control, and the administration of antibiotics. We will work with your doctor to arrange the safest and most economical I.V. therapy program.
Home Health Aide Aides assist patients with personal hygiene, errands, light housekeeping, transfer, and ambulation. Aides are available in conjunction with skilled services such as nursing or therapy. All home health aide services are supervised by a registered nurse.
Occupational Therapy Accident, stroke, some types of surgery, and illnesses such as multiple sclerosis can affect a patients ability to care for themselves. Our skilled occupational therapists are available to help patients maintain independence in daily activities such as eating, dressing, and grooming.
Social Services Professionals are available to help patients with societal, environmental, financial, or emotional problems that could affect their medical treatment or recovery.
Maternal Child Home Care The nurses home visit includes assessment of mother and baby, teaching all aspects of infant care and any medical care ordered by the physician.
