The Chronic Pain Self-Managment Program is a workshop developed by Stanford University. Classes will be facilitated by two trained leaders from Union Hospital's Community Health and Wellness Department and is highly interactive. The program will be offered at the Dover Public Library from 9:30am until Noon and will be weekly for 6 weeks, beginning February 13, 2018 and ending on March 20, 2018. Participants will learn techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep, as well as how to communicate effectively with family, friends and health professionals. They will be taught appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance, while pacing activity and rest. Also included will be instructions on appropriate use of medication and nutrition. Tips on how to evaluate new treatments will be discussed. You will receive a copy of the book "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain and CD paid for through a grant from the Moomaw Foundation."
