Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) can improve your health and quality of life. MNT can result in fewer doctor's visits, fewer hospital stays and reduced prescription drug use. Medicare Part B covers three hours of MNT for diabetes and end-stage renal disease prior to dialysis in the first year and two hours every year after. Call us to schedule your appointment and we will contact your doctor for a referral.
The training includes information on self-care and making lifestyle changes to help you learn to successfully manage your diabetes. Topics include the disease process, monitoring and using blood glucose levels, psychosocial adjustment, nutrition management, insulin training, medications and importance of physical activity with diabetes. This program is accredited by the American Diabetes Association and classes are taught by Certified Diabetes Educators. Medicare Part B covers 10 hours of DSMT in the first year and two hours of follow-up every year after. Call us to schedule your appointment and we will contact your doctor for a referral.
Diabetes Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month to discuss different topics on diabetes. All are welcome and there is no fee to attend.
