Our Medical Unit has a maximum capacity of 56 beds and is located in new and newly remodeled rooms on the second floor. The Surgical Unit is a 28-bed unit located on the new third floor. Care is provided for acute and chronically ill adult and geriatric patients and those patients recovering from surgery. The staff of registered nurses and support staff are skilled and experienced, offering clinical expertise and collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other health care team members. At Union Hospital, a sense of community and personal service helps to make each patient special and unique, not a number, but a real person with cares and concerns for their own health and well-being.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides highly skilled and qualified nursing care for critically ill patients. These patients require specialized and advanced technical nursing care, which is coordinated by the critical care nurse to include other disciplines as necessary. Our 2nd floor ICU facility is designed for the comfort and security of the patient and their family members with eight large, well-equipped rooms, each with outside windows, lavatory facilities, and full privacy.
The Stepdown Unit, adjacent to the ICU on the 2nd floor, includes newly remodeled private and semi-private rooms for patients who require cardiac monitoring and specialized nursing care.
Located on the hospital's 2nd floor, the Pediatric Unit is designed for children and adolescents, ages newborn through 17 years. Nurses on the unit are specially trained to care for children and the unit is equipped with child-sized equipment. Families are encouraged to stay with their children and participate in their care. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team to include physicians, nurses, dietitians, care managers, and others. We work together to promote the health of our young patients.
